Employer medical
Group health insurance for employers in the Austin area and along the Austin to Bell County corridor
Group health insurance is medical coverage your company sponsors for eligible employees and, if you choose, their families. You set contributions and eligibility, and the carrier pays covered claims. I compare major carriers and funding options around your budget, help your people enroll, and stay with HR through the year.
I'm Matthew. I help employers in the Austin area and along the Austin to Bell County corridor build group medical benefits people are glad to have. I bring the market most small groups never see. Then I stay after enrollment.
Benefits people are glad to have
Good group health is more than a line on an offer letter. It helps you hire. It helps you keep people. It gives employees a clear path when something goes wrong with their health.
I compare options against your budget and your team’s real questions. You get a partner who knows the corridor, not a one-time quote and a goodbye.
What group health does
Group health insurance is employer-sponsored medical coverage for eligible employees and, when you choose, their families. You set contribution levels and eligibility. The carrier pays covered claims under the plan you pick.
That is the job of the product. The job of my work is to bring you choices, enroll cleanly, and stay when HR has a question in March, not only in November.
How the work runs
- Hear the team. We talk about headcount, locations, budget, renewal timing, and what employees ask about today.
- Bring the market. I compare major carriers and funding options that fit your facts.
- Enroll with a person. You get clear materials, help walking people through decisions, and a named contact.
- Stay with HR. New hires, mid-year questions, and renewal prep stay on my plate. You are not left with a 1-800 number.
Who this is for
- Owners and HR building a first benefits package and want it done right.
- Teams in growth or exit mode that need coverage that still makes sense next year.
- Companies after an acquisition or inherited plan that no longer fits.
- Leaders tired of benefits questions that should not sit only on the owner.
Renewal went up? Start with what to do when your renewal goes up. Can we pair the plan with a MERP? See how a MERP works beside your group plan.
Not changing medical this year? You can keep your medical plan and add the extras.
If you are in Killeen, Belton, Temple, or anywhere from Austin through Bell County, this is home field. If your team reaches beyond Texas, I can help there too.

Plain-language answers
Questions people ask before the next step
How does group health work for small employers in Texas?
You sponsor a medical plan for eligible employees. You choose how much you contribute, when people can enroll, and how the plan sits next to other benefits. Carriers underwrite and pay claims. I compare options, help you enroll, and stay for questions during the year. Plan documents and carrier rules control coverage.
Can we get group medical in the Austin area or Bell County?
Yes. I work with employers in Killeen, Belton, Temple, and across Bell County, plus the Austin corridor. I can also help employers outside of Texas. Availability still depends on your group facts, location, and effective date.
What should we bring to the first conversation?
Headcount and locations, current plan summary if you have one, renewal date, budget range, and what employees ask about most. A census with ages and coverage tiers helps me price faster. You do not need a perfect spreadsheet to start.
How does the broker fee work?
For larger groups, there is no separate broker fee. Carrier compensation covers my work. For the smallest groups, the broker fee is $1,000 per year. That is how I get paid for the advisory work. It is not a promise about premiums, savings, or any other outcome.
Do you work for one carrier or for our company?
I work for you. I compare options across the market rather than pushing a single carrier. You choose what fits the team and the budget.
What happens after open enrollment?
I stay. New hires, qualifying events, claims questions, and next year's renewal are part of the relationship. You get a person in the Austin area, not a rotating call center.
Who is responsible for what once a plan is live?
Carriers remain responsible for claims and policy terms. Employers remain responsible for eligibility, contributions, and plan administration choices. Payroll and HR systems handle deductions. Legal and tax advice sit with your counsel and CPA. I advise, enroll, and stay for questions.
